2) On their first trip north of the border the Birds had a bit of a slow start and after failing to get a shot on their first power play opportunity the Chilliwack Bruins were able to connect on their first chance with the man advantage as the always dangerous Ryan Howse put them up 1-0 at 9:09 of the first period.

It was a very different Winterhawks team that the Thunderbirds played tonight at the Rose Garden in Portland . The Ryan Johansen express flew into Portland about two hours before game time.
