THE DAILY ROLL

Brock and Salk

The Blog is ON!

Hi! And welcome to the Brock and Salk Blog.

I’m Mike Salk, and I’ll be hosting the Brock and Salk show daily on 710 ESPN Seattle from 11a-3p alongside the significantly taller Brock Huard. You probably already know lots about Brock (the whole “local high school, college, and NFL quarterback” thing), but I’ll try to give you a quick glance into who I am.

In short, I’m a sports guy with some different opinions and some different takes on the world of sports. I’m originally from Boston , but I wouldn’t call myself a “ Boston guy,” because I recognize the picture of the obnoxious d-bag you might conjure up. I’ve seen too many drunken morons vomiting after Sox games or swearing at visiting players at the Garden to count myself entirely among them.

So, I grew up in Boston but lived for 9 years in Los Angeles . And now I find myself in Seattle, essentially for the first time. So far, I have to say this city is impressive. And not just the beautiful views from every rooftop or the great Asian food seemingly on every corner. It’s also you. The Seattle Sports Fan who is going to make this show (and this blog) a whole lot of fun to be a part of.

In terms of sports, baseball is my first love but I’m also into the NFL, NHL, college basketball and NASCAR (in that order). In terms of the whole UW/WSU thing, I’m trying not to choose sides but Brock is definitely trying to push me in one direction (as I’m sure you can guess).

And as for the show? It’s going to be awesome. Brock (for all the grief I intend to give him) is going to blow you away. Don’t pay any attention to articles saying he has no sense of humor. He does. I think. But maybe it comes through better on radio where you aren’t distracted by his Dolph Lundgren stare. We’re going to talk a ton of Seattle sports – breaking down the Seahawks and Mariners – but also we’re going to have some fun.

Finally, we have some cool stuff in the works for this blog. I sat in a “creative” meeting with the tech guys today and found out that the blogging software is a whole lot more user friendly than the Logo program I used on my Apple IIC as a kid. So start checking this site every day for info on the day’s guests and topics, behind the scenes info about the show and its hosts, and some other fun stuff we’re planning.

And of course, make sure you’re listening on Monday at 10AM when 710 ESPN Seattle takes the air for the first time!
