RENTON – Healthy is a relative term in the NFL, but the Seahawks are as healthy as any team could expect to be entering the first week.

All but two of the 53 players on Seattle’s roster were expected to practice Monday, the first official day of the NFL work week heading into the season opener on Thursday against Green Bay. The list of those on the field includes linebacker Bruce Irvin, who didn’t practice at all during the five weeks of training camp while recovering from hip surgery, and receiver Kevin Norwood, who was out the past four weeks after having bone spurs removed.

“We’re taking it day to day,” coach Pete Carroll said. “Both those guys will practice today. We’ll see how they handle it. It really takes us – as always – until the next day. We’ll see how we do. We’re hopeful that they’ll have a chance to play.”

The status of linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis is a little more doubtful. He suffered a pulled hamstring in the exhibition finale in Oakland last week. Cassius Marsh, who like Pierre-Louis is a rookie, left that game with a strained hip flexor, but he’s OK and expected to practice this week.

Running back Christine Michael was out last week with a sore hamstring, an injury that very well may render him unavailable for Thursday’s game.

“He’s banged up,” Carroll said. “We’ll figure it out later in the week.”

But that’s about the extent of the uncertainty for Seattle this week.

“We’re pretty healthy going in,” Carroll said. “A couple questions, but not many. We’re all ready to get this thing started.”
