Brock Huard’s three most intriguing reasons to watch the combine

For those interested in watching the upcoming NFL Scouting Combine but don’t care to marathon through the full event, Brock Huard has a few recommended events to watch.

First and foremost is on the bench press, where Baylor defensive tackle Andrew Billings might put on a show. The likely first-round selection was a record-breaking power lifter as a prep in Texas. The most repetitions anyone has recorded at the combine since 2010 is 49. Huard thinks Billings can top that.

“He may bench-press 225 pounds 50 times,” Huard said. “I think that will be some must-see TV.”

Huard said another junior from Baylor, wide receiver Corey Coleman, should be an electric runner.

“I can’t wait to watch him shuttle and jump. I want to see how explosive he is,” Huard said of Coleman, who won the Biletnikoff Award last season as the nation’s top receiver. “He was a guy on pace to shatter every single receiving record this year and then his two quarterbacks got hurt and he kind of diminished at the end of the season.”

Huard also expects LSU linebacker Deion Jones to improve his draft stock in the 40-yard dash.

“He should run low 4.5s. He may pop high 4.4s at like 235 pounds,” Huard said. “Freak of nature.”
