Seahawks defensive tackle Jesse Williams gave an update on his battle with cancer Thursday, Tweeting that he’s “All clear to return to (f)ootball.”

Williams, 25, didn’t play last season as he focused on his health after being diagnosed in May with papillary type 2 cancer then having surgery to remove a cancerous kidney.

Williams returned to practice in August – a little over two months after his surgery – and played in all four of Seattle’s preseason games, making five tackles and a half sack as he competed for a spot in the Seahawks’ defensive-line rotation. Instead, the team placed in on the Reserve/Non-Football Illness list, where he spent the season.

Williams, a fifth-round pick in 2013, didn’t play in either of his first two seasons because of knee injuries. He’s an exclusive-rights free agent, which means the Seahawks control his rights for the 2016 season should they tender him a contract.
