Clayton: Cameron Wake, Joique Bell could be Seahawks targets

The Miami Dolphins have some decisions to make about their high-priced defensive line, and ESPN’s John Clayton said he wouldn’t be surprised if the Seahawks are looking to benefit.

Miami signed defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh to a six-year, $114 million contract last season and might be forced to place a Franchise Tag on young defensive end Oliver Vernon. Meanwhile, four-time Pro Bowl DE Cameron Wake tore his Achilles tendon last season, and there’s speculation Miami might cut the 34-year-old and his $9.8 million cap hit from the 2016 books.

When asked about Miami’s situation, Clayton told “Brock and Salk” he wouldn’t be surprised if Seattle had interest in adding Wake, who has compiled 42 sacks over the last four seasons.

“I think you can see with Bruce Irvin leaving that they’re going to have to get another pass rusher or two, and guys like Wake and others will probably start lining up to see if they can catch on this roster because it’s one where you can get sacks,” Clayton said. “Probably Mario Williams is going to be a little bit too expensive, but I think he would be under consideration. But I think (Seattle will be interested in) any kind of a pass rusher, particularly ones who are cut.”

Besides pass rushers, Clayton believes Seattle might have interest running back Joique Bell, 29, who was released Wednesday by the Lions.

“A team like New England and maybe Seattle will look at him because he can be a physical back, and I think this team is going to look for competition,” he said. “…You can pretty well forecast what the running back situation is going to be, so you probably want to look and see how many are out there, but I think this team would consider Joique because, again, you’re looking at not much money.”

As for a cheap option on the offensive line, Clayton mentioned Seattle will possibly check on 32-year-old Jermon Bushrod, the Bears’ former left tackle that was released Tuesday.
