One of the first procedural moves of the offseason is signing players to futures contracts, which secures their rights for the upcoming season. The Seahawks did so with 13 more players this week, bringing to 16 their total of players signed to futures deals.

They are:

• OL Terry Poole
• FB Brandon Cottom
• CB George Farmer
• WR Deshon Foxx
• WR Antwan Goodley
• WR Douglas McNeil
• DT Justin Hamilton
• CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste
• C Drew Nowak
• OL Will Pericak
• DB Travon Reed

• DB Robert Smith
• DE Tyson DeAngelo

• LS Andrew East
• TE Ronnie Shields
• QB Phillip Sims

The first 11 players on that list finished the season on Seattle’s practice squad or – in Poole’s case – practice-squad injured reserve. That means they were no longer under contract once the season ended with Sunday’s loss to Carolina. Seattle signed three of those players – East, Shieds and Sims – the week after the end of the regular season.
