UCSB takes down Washington 83-78 behind 17 from Bryson

SEATTLE (AP) — Michael Bryson scored 17 points, Gabe Vincent hit a key leaning jumper as the shot clock expired with 1:01 remaining and UC Santa Barbara held off a late charge to beat Washington 83-78 on Monday night.

The Gauchos (4-7) won their second straight following a five-game losing streak that included losses to Arizona State and USC. UCSB knocked off a Pac-12 team for the first time since beating Washington State in November 2014 at the Great Alaska Shootout. The Gauchos had lost their previous six games against Pac-12 opponents.

Picked to finish second in the Big West Conference in the preseason, the Gauchos took advantage of sluggish starts to both halves by Washington. The Huskies missed their first nine shots of the game and were outscored 10-2 by UCSB to start the second half.

David Crisp and Malik Dime led Washington (8-4) with 17 points each.
