Seattle Thunderbirds injury report

The Thunderbirds have had several players out for at least a couple of weeks now and the latest injury report has been filed.

Defenseman Scott Ramsay has a concussion with his return being day to day.

Forward Branden Troock is out with an illness that is listed as week to week

Forward Tyler Alos is out with an illness that is listed as day to day.

Forward Justin Hickman is out with a fractured hand for 5 to 7 weeks.

With three forwards out Head Coach Rob Sumner has had defensemen playing up front. With the three injuries at forward this leaves the Thunderbirds with just 11 forwards for the time being. While many teams are without players because of NHL camps they are allowed to insert other guys into those roles but with injuries it’s a different story. As more information on the injuries becomes available I will report it.

The Thunderbirds have two games coming up this weekend. Friday night at 7:30 pm at home against the Lethbridge Hurricanes and Saturday night at 7 pm at the Rose Garden in Portland against the Winterhawks. Lethbridge wasn’t particularly impressive in preseason but they are 2-0 so far on the young season. We saw some “spirited” play between these two teams at the Tri-City tournament so I would expect that to be the case on Friday as well.

The Winterhawks are slowly but surely getting back players from camps. Troy Rutkowski, Brett Ponich, Riley Boychuk, and Brad Ross are all back. So the Winterhawks will look much different than they did last Saturday at the ShoWare Center. In fact last night in their home opener Portland defeated Vancouver, 7-2. The Thunderbirds will most certainly need to be at their best to win what would be, including preseason, their third victory in a row over Portland. I’m sure the four days without a game has helped to rest those tired legs that we saw in Tri-City on Sunday.
