THE DAILY ROLL

Bob, Groz and Tom

The Groz makes his weekend predictions

Nebraska 21 UW 14

A tough loss for the Huskies, but hardly a demoralizing one. Nebraska is the kind of team that gives UW problems, or at least the kind of team that gave them problems last year. The noise advantage is reduced somewhat as Nebraska is back to being a running team with their new, young QB. Their defense figures to be very tough on the Husky O-line. Don’t get me wrong, I think the Huskies have a great opportunity here, especially if they can win the turnover battle. But methinks they come up short.

SMU 35 WSU 7

A 4 touchdown loss. I guess that’s an improvement over last year but not by much. WSU may have won last week, but their performance was atrocious – it was the closest thing to a bad win I have ever seen. The coaching at the end of the game was abysmal as well. They are lucky more people didn’t get to see it. In fact Paul Wulff is lucky when folks don’t get to see it. Bill Moos … Cougar nation is waiting … get Bellotti out of the broadcasts and on to the sidelines

Denver 14 Seattle 13

Let me be honest here. I TRULY do not know what is going to happen after last week. The Hawks win at home wasn’t a big surprise. It was the way they did it that still shocks. Remember they were getting it handed to them in the first 22 minutes, Outgained 117-8, they were going to get buried. Instead they crushed. Can they shrug off another injury to the offensive line? Maybe. Can the ‘D’ be as dominant as it was last week? Maybe. Is Matt Hasselback going to be as effective as he was in the first game? Maybe. See what I mean?

I do think this: The Seahawk D line helps keep the game close, and in a close game anything can happen. How is that for a cop-out pick?

So far…4-1
