Jamie Moyer: Mariners need to pick it up at home

If the Seattle Mariners hope to make the most out of the second half of the season, they need to start winning at home.

The Mariners are under .500 right now, which is something former pitcher Jamie Moyer told 710 ESPN’s Bob, Groz & Tom needs to change.

When he was an active player, Moyer used to say “until we get to .500, we can’t be anybody to be reckoned with.”

“Unfortunately, their home record isn’t as good as it needs to be,” Moyer said.

And playing at home should give the Mariners an advantage, he added. That’s when the team needs to get its numbers up.

“You’ve got to pick it up at home,” Moyer said. “You’ve got to play well at home.” The Mariners have “done pretty well” on the road this season, Moyer threw in.

Each player needs to start their day asking what they can do to make the team better.

“This is a team game,” Moyer said. There are individual accolades, but those should be celebrated after the season.
