Isaiah Thomas, Klay Thompson staying in draft

Washington’s Isaiah Thomas and Washington State’s Klay Thompson will remain in the NBA draft.

Both players had announced their intentions to forgo their senior seasons and enter the NBA draft, but each left open the possibility of returning to school. There’s no turning back for either as the deadline for withdrawing from the draft was Sunday.

Thomas officially ends his career at Washington sixth on the school’s all-time scoring list and third in both assists and and 3-pointers made.

According to Percy Allen of The Seattle Times, scouts at a predraft workout that Thomas participated in Sunday said they expect Thomas to go somewhere in the second round.

Thompson, the Pac-10’s leading scorer last season, finished his career third on the school’s all-time scoring list. His father, Mychal, told Bud Withers of The Seattle Times that Klay “has about four teams in the lottery interested in him.”

Thompson was still undecided as of last week, but his father said the interest from the lottery teams helped sway his decision.

The NBA draft is June 23.
