THE DAILY ROLL

Danny Dave and Moore

The Show

I know, I know they’re just 2 and 2 but I have enjoyed watching the Mariners more this week than in the last two years. Why? How about defense for starters. Franklin Gutierrez glove work in the first with a diving backhand of a sinking liner was a thing of beauty. Later in the 7th he ran down two more line drives. Jarrod Washburn looked in command with a “fastball” at 87 and a changeup he kept down. When Brandon Morrow took over in the 9th with a two run lead he immediately had a melt down moment walking the leadoff hitter. But the difference this time unlike Tuesday he buckled down and got first strikes on the next three batters, the 4 5 and 6 hitters no less. He got Mourneau and Crede on called third strikes and Kubel to fly out. End of story. M’s win 2 zip. Like I say it was a very entertaining game that I watched once in the morning live and the replay later. And on another important note, Griffey was given the day off and Ichiro was still in Arizona playing a simulated game. Winning without their franchise guys should help the young guys confidence.

Tomorrow on the show we’ll have guests Art Thiel and The Professor John Clayton. And I’ll be talking with Jeanne Kohl-Welles, state senator from the 36 district, about the city’s attempt to clam $30 million from the Sonics settlement. Remember that? We’ll get rollin’ at 3 today.
