Washington junior running back Chris Polk is among 21 players listed as early favorites to win the 2011 Heisman Trophy. Polk is a plus-1,800 on the money line.

In Thursday’s Blue 42, Brock Huard said don’t expect Polk to win:

“Is Chris Polk going to win the Heisman? I don’t think so … He could have a brilliant year. He’s going to be the feature back. He could run for 1,500 yards and he could shatter all of the University of Washington’s records. Unfortunately, with Oregon and Stanford on the West Coast and a little bit ahead of you, you’re not going to 10-2, 11-1 and have a magical run where he gets all of the glory and all of the highlights. And it is about visibility when it comes to the Heisman.”

Polk rushed for 1,415 yards as a sophomore last season, which was the 13th-best rushing total in the nation and the second-best in the program’s history. After two seasons, he ranks sixth on the school’s all-time rushing list with 2,561 yards.

No UW player has ever won the Heisman Trophy. The closest was defensive tackle Steve Emtman, who finished fourth in Heisman voting in 1991.

Brock also discussed Blaine Gabbert’s meeting with the Arizona Cardinals and the Pac-12 seeking the largest media rights deal of any conference in the country. You can listen to Blue 42 here.
