Washington State athletic director Bill Moos said guard Klay Thompson still hasn’t ruled out the possibility of returning for his senior season.

“I met with Ken Bone the day before yesterday down here and he still thinks it’s 50-50,” Moos said Wednesday on the Kevin Calabro show.

Thompson, the Pac-10’s leading scorer last season, announced in April that he would forgo his senior season to enter the NBA draft. He didn’t hire an agent, leaving open the possibility of returning for his senior season, which he said he might do if he didn’t believe he’d be a first-round pick.

“Klay has not signed with an agent and has until May 8. However, he did say that (according to) a lot of the people he’s talking to that they think he truly could be a first round-pick and maybe even middle and early,” Moos said. “We want the best for Klay, and certainly (it has been) his dream to play in the NBA, but the selfish part is we hope he comes back, gets his degree and breaks all the records and plays for us next year.

“So we’re going to be watching this very closely.”
