US team to face Grenada in Seattle

The U.S. national soccer team will play its first-round match of the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup against Grenada in Seattle at Qwest Field on July 4.

A second game featuring Haiti and Honduras will be played earlier that day. The U.S. game starts at 6 p.m. The Haiti-Honduras match kicks off at 4 p.m.

The CONCACAF tournament pits national soccer teams from North America, Central America and the Caribbean every two years. The U.S. has won the last two Gold Cups.

Tickets will go on sale to Seattle Sounders and Seahawks season ticket-holders and other groups on Friday. Tickets for the general public will go on sale on April 17.

In 2005, the U.S. team played Cuba and Canada at Qwest, defeating both teams to advance to the quarterfinals.
