Sounders lose Marshall to Gold Cup

The Seattle Sounders FC will be without defender Tyrone Marshall after he was called away by the Jamaican national team for the upcoming CONCACAF Gold Cup.

The Sounders said Tuesday that Marshall will leave July 1 to train with the Jamaican team in Los Angeles, before the team plays Canada July 3. The Jamaicans are also scheduled to face Costa Rica on July 7 in Columbus, Ohio, and El Salvador on July 10 in Miami. The tournament concludes July 26.

Marshall has appeared in 65 international games for Jamaica, most recently in February when the Jamaican played Nigeria. He’s played more minutes than any Seattle player this year (1,260) and has started 14 games for the Sounders.
