Report: Seahawks agree to deal with OT Bradley Sowell

After re-signing four players, losing four others and kicking the tires on a handful of potential replacements, the Seahawks are set to make their first addition of free agency, reportedly agreeing to terms with former Cardinals offensive tackle Bradley Sowell.

According to ESPN’s Adam Caplan, it’s a one-year deal worth $1.5 million.

Sowell, who turns 27 in June, has made 12 starts in his four NFL seasons, all of which came in 2013 with Arizona. He entered the league in 2012 with Indianapolis.

Sowell reportedly met last week with the Seahawks. He represents a relatively low-cost contingency plan at left tackle in case starter Russell Okung signs with any of the teams to which he’s been linked in recent days. Alvin Bailey, Okung’s backup last year, signed with Cleveland last week after Seattle declined to tender him as a restricted free agent.

That means the Seahawks could be without their top two left tackles from last season depending on what happens with Okung, who has reportedly been offered a contract by Pittsburgh and is set to visit Houston as he continues his free-agent tour.

Hence their reported deal with Sowell and interest in other free-agent left tackles, including Kelvin Beachum, Donald Penn and J’Marcus Webb.
