Seahawks’ free-agent lineman Alvin Bailey signs with Cleveland Browns

The latest Seahawks free agent to leave town is Alvin Bailey, the Cleveland Browns announcing they signed the offensive lineman Friday.

Bailey was one of Seattle’s unrestricted free agents this offseason, but they didn’t tender him a contract before Wednesday’s 1 p.m. deadline and he therefore hit the open market. Until his signing with Cleveland, it was unclear whether the Seahawks’ decision to not tender Bailey was a sign they were moving on from him or looking to sign him for less money.

Joining the Seahawks in 2013 as an undrafted free agent, Bailey played in 42 games (eight starts) over three seasons with Seattle.

There was hope Bailey could be James Carpenter’s replacement as the Seahawks’ starting left guard in 2015, but he ended up spending the majority of the season as a backup, save for three games he started at left tackle as an injury replacement for Russell Okung.

The Seahawks are also at risk of losing Okung in free agency. He reportedly had meetings set up with the Giants and Lions.
