  • I Give Up!
    April 21, 2009 6:31 pm

I’ve finally been beaten into submission. I no longer care where the Huskies play the Cougars. Play the Apple Cup at Martin Stadium, play it at Husky stadium, play it at Qwest field, play it on an aging aircraft carrier, play it at Marymoor Park. Move it to Chelan…autumn is beautiful over there…play it in […]

I know, I know they’re just 2 and 2 but I have enjoyed watching the Mariners more this week than in the last two years. Why? How about defense for starters. Franklin Gutierrez glove work in the first with a diving backhand of a sinking liner was a thing of beauty. Later in the 7th […]

  • Hero or Goat?
    April 7, 2009 9:30 pm

Get used to the life kid, this is the profession you have chosen. Brandon Morrow announced in camp that he would be a closer. With a fastball north of 95 why not? Last night he came on with a 2 run lead in the ninth. He got Joe Crede on a swinging strike 3 then […]

  • Everybody loves the sunshine
    April 7, 2009 8:29 pm

After a marathon broadcast on Monday I decided to grab some barbeque on the way home and have a cookout with my family. We kicked it on the deck in the sunshine with the radio and tv on full blast. One on the dreadful NCAA final, the other on the M’s opener. I was first impressed with Beltre’s double in the 2nd followed by Griffey’s bouncer behind the runner and then Lopez sac fly to score the M’s first run of the year. That’s what they have been talking all spring about. Later, after we had taken our eyes off the Carolina blow out of the Spartans we focused on another Griffey a.b. and when it flew away…we cheered. Hey this isn’t the press box,we allow cheering in the house. Yes, I know it’s one of 162, it’s a marathon..yada yada. But it’s always good to see winners with Seattle on their chest.

I had a great day at Hawks camp today. Matt Hasselbeck told us he would watch the second day of the draft to see the sixth round. That’s where he was taken with the 187th pick. He said Mel Kiper told the television audience it was a waste of a pick. “The 187th pick!”… Then he laughed. Livin’ well is the best revenge. I watched Colin Cole move the blocking sled around. He is an interesting guy. He has the Predator dreadlocks going and at 6 1 330 is stout. Signed as a free agent from Greenbay where he played 54 games the last four years as a 1st and 2nd down DT. Catch our broadcast tomorrow at 3 when Clare Farnsworth our Seahawks insider joins us.
