SEATTLE (AP) – Original Seattle Sounders defender Zach Scott has re-signed with the club for the 2016 season, putting off retirement for at least one more year.

The Sounders announced Scott’s signing Friday. The 35-year-old is one of three players from Seattle’s inaugural season in 2009 that is still on the roster. Scott initially had his option for 2016 declined by the club following the end of last season.

Scott played a career-high 1,480 minutes in 2015 and has made 104 total appearances for the Sounders since 2009.

Scott has been with the Sounders organization since 2002 when it was a USL club. Scott has been part of seven trophy-winning teams in Seattle: two USL championships, four U.S. Open Cup titles and one MLS Supporters’ Shield.
