The Seahawks are heading into free agency with a major hole in the middle of their defensive line, as both defensive tackles Ahtyba Rubin and Brandon Mebane could leave for other teams.

However, Mebane told 710 ESPN’s “Justin and Gee” that he would “love to” return to Seattle for next year and beyond.

“I’d love to be back out there in Seattle, finish my career in Seattle,” he said. “I’ve been there nine years, so why not?”

The 31-year-old has anchored the Seahawks’ D-line since Seattle selected him in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft. Primarily a run-stuffer, the 311-pounder finished 2015 with 24 tackles and 1.5 sacks.

Mebane acknowledged there is interest with other teams and will likely visit with other teams.

“That’s part of the process of being a free agent, but that don’t really mean a whole lot,” he said. “Taking a visit don’t really mean nothing. It’s just like recruiting all over again, like out of high school going to college. You take five visits when you’re in high school and you go visit places.

“That’s all part of the process, as far as taking trips here and there, but it’s just a trip, it ain’t really like saying a whole lot,” he added.

When asked about his interest in returning home to Los Angeles with the newly relocated Rams, Mebane noted that the Rams’ practice facility might not be easy to get to.

“I don’t know how they’re going to get from Thousand Oaks to Inglewood with all this traffic. I don’t know how they’re going to do that. That’s gonna be tough.”

Mebane said he’s not feeling any pressure or anxiety yet.

“I think it’ll all work out at the end, man,” he said. “I’d love to go back to Seattle, but we just got to wait and see. It’s just a waiting game now.”
